Porygon has always been a bit of a fan favorite, the first fully digital Pokemon, and its 1st Edition #48 printing from the 2000 Team Rocket set gives it a nice little place in collector history. It's an uncommon card illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi, not flashy, not rare in the holo sense, but it carries that unmistakable charm of early Team Rocket cardboard. If you're trying to figure out Porygon value today, the short answer is that it's an affordable, fun card to own raw, with real upside if you're chasing a graded copy.

The collector's take on Porygon

Is Porygon worth grading?

So is Porygon worth grading? Here's the honest breakdown: a raw, ungraded copy sits around $5, while a PSA 10 brings roughly 32.9 times that, at $176. That's a real jump, and it's the kind of math that gets collectors excited. But gem mint isn't a given. Team Rocket cards from 2000 often show centering quirks and print lines that keep them out of that top grade, so plenty of copies land at Grade 9 instead, which actually sits higher here at $561. Before you send one in, weigh the grading fees and turnaround time against what you're actually holding. If your copy already looks sharp with clean edges and centering, it might be worth the gamble. If it's rough, you may be better off enjoying it raw.

How rare is Porygon?

Across all grading companies, there are 2,017 total graded copies of this Porygon on record, and only 265 of those have reached PSA 10. That's a fairly tight slice at the top, roughly one in eight graded copies making it to gem mint. It tells you that even though Porygon isn't considered a rare pull in terms of print numbers, hitting that flawless grade is genuinely tough, and that scarcity at the very top is exactly what keeps PSA 10 prices meaningfully above the raw and Grade 9 tiers.

Where can you pull Porygon?

PackSpy has tracked 127 real pulls of this Porygon across sites like collector-crypt, courtyard, tilt-rips, and mnstr, with the biggest recorded pull value hitting $618. We've seen it turn up in packs like the Starter Pokemon Gacha Pack, The Amazing Chase Encore, Pokemon Dime Pack, Pack 5, and the Pokemon Starter Pack. That's the kind of cross-site detail a static price guide can't give you, real data from real openings. Worth remembering though, opening packs is a gamble, and most rips don't come close to covering their cost, so treat any pull as a bonus rather than a plan.

Questions people ask

How much is Porygon worth?+

A raw, ungraded copy of Porygon 1st Edition #48 is worth about $5. Graded copies climb from there, with a Grade 9 sitting at $561 and a PSA 10 at $176, so the value really depends on condition and grading.

Is Porygon worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 sells for around 32.9 times the raw price. But gem mint copies aren't easy to pull off, and grading costs money and time, so it's worth checking your card's centering and surface closely before you commit.

Why is the Porygon 1st Edition #48 print worth more than the standard one?+

1st Edition cards from the Team Rocket set carry that early print stamp collectors specifically look for, tying the card to its original 2000 release. That history, combined with its uncommon status and population numbers, is what separates its value from a standard reprint.
