What is the most expensive Pokémon card?
The Pikachu Illustrator. A PSA 10 copy sold for $16,492,000 at Goldin Auctions in February 2026, which Guinness World Records recognises as the most expensive trading card ever sold. It was given away in a 1998 CoroCoro illustration contest, with only 39 awarded, and it has never been available in a booster pack.
Why are some Pokémon cards worth so much?
Three things stack up: scarcity, condition and demand. A low print run matters, but grading matters more. A PSA 10 gem mint copy can be worth many times the same card in raw condition, which is why the ranking here is ordered by PSA 10 value.

What does PSA 10 mean?
PSA 10 is the top grade from Professional Sports Authenticator, described as gem mint. Centering, corners, edges and surface all have to be near perfect. A PSA 9 of the same card is usually worth a fraction of the PSA 10.
Can you actually pull cards like these?
