Abra #43 is one of those humble little Base Set commons that most people barely notice, but if you grew up with this set you probably remember the psychic little fox with its eyes shut, drawn by Mitsuhiro Arita back in 1999. It is not a rare card by any stretch, and that is fine, because it still carries the charm of the original 151 era. If you are searching for a straightforward Abra value, the short answer is that raw copies sit around $2, which is exactly what you would expect from a common of this age.

The collector's take on Abra

Is Abra worth grading?

Here is the honest math: a raw Abra runs about $2, while a PSA 10 sells for $127, which works out to roughly 56.1 times the ungraded price. That is a real jump, and it is tempting to look at that gap and think grading is a no brainer. But gem mint is not easy to land on a 1999 common, corners and centering on these older cards can be unforgiving, and grading fees plus shipping and waiting time eat into any profit fast. A Grade 9 brings $40, which is still a nice step up from raw but nowhere near PSA 10 money. If you already own a sharp, well centered copy and you enjoy the process, grading Abra could be worth trying. If you are buying raw copies specifically to send in and flip, treat it like a gamble, because that is what it is.

How rare is Abra?

Across all grading companies combined, there are 2,221 graded copies of Abra on record, and of those only 342 have earned that coveted PSA 10 label. That means gem mint copies make up a small slice of the total population, which helps explain why the PSA 10 price sits so far above raw and Grade 9. Abra was never a scarce pull in packs, so this is not about a card being hard to find. It is about how few copies made it through the decades in flawless shape, and that is really what is driving the value split you see today.

Where can you pull Abra?

PackSpy has tracked Abra being pulled 200 or more times across sites like tilt-rips, mnstr, lastpack, courtyard, collector-crypt and packs, so this is a card that shows up with some regularity when people crack Base Set era product online. The biggest recorded pull we have logged for Abra came in at $549, which shows that even a common can occasionally land in a lucky, high value moment depending on the pack and site. We have seen it turn up in Pokemon Dime Pack, Rookie Pack, Pokemon Dollar Pack, Pokemon Starter Pack and Pack 2. That kind of cross site data is something a static price guide simply cannot give you, and it is worth remembering that pulling packs is a gamble where most rips do not beat what you paid, so treat any hit as a bonus rather than an expectation.

Questions people ask

How much is Abra worth?+

A raw, ungraded Abra from Base Set is valued at around $2. Graded copies are worth more, with a Grade 9 sitting at $40, so condition makes a real difference here.

Is Abra worth grading?+

It depends on the copy you have. A PSA 10 brings $127, which is about 56.1 times the raw price, but with only 342 PSA 10s out of 2,221 total graded copies, gem mint is genuinely hard to hit, so weigh the grading cost against that risk before sending it in.

How much is a PSA 10 Abra worth?+

A PSA 10 Abra is valued at $127. That is a big step up from the $2 raw price and reflects just how few copies reach that top grade out of the full graded population.
