Sandshrew is the humble little ground-type common that slipped into the Team Rocket Returns set back in 2004, drawn with that clean, expressive style Atsuko Nishida is known for. It is not a card that turns heads for rarity, but it has a soft spot in a lot of collections because of the set it comes from, and plenty of people search Sandshrew value just to see where a common like this sits today. Right now that answer is a raw price of $2, which tells you this is a card people collect for the nostalgia and the set run more than the payout.

The collector's take on Sandshrew

Is Sandshrew worth grading?

So is Sandshrew worth grading? Honestly, it depends on what you are hoping to get out of it. A raw copy sits at $2, and a PSA 10 goes for $20, which works out to about 8.3x the raw price if you land a perfect grade. A Grade 9 comes in at $16, so even a near-perfect copy holds decent value relative to the raw card. The catch is that grading costs money and takes time, and you are not guaranteed a 10 just because the card looks clean to your eye. For a common like this, most collectors send it in because they love the set or want a graded piece in their collection, not because they are chasing a big return. If gem mint is the goal, know that plenty of submitted cards fall short of it.

How rare is Sandshrew?

There are 129 total graded copies of Sandshrew on record, and 75 of those are PSA 10. That is actually a pretty high share sitting at the top grade, which tells you this card grades well when people bother to send it in. It is not a scarce card in any dramatic sense, but the population numbers show that gem mint copies are attainable if you have a sharp one in hand, and that keeps the PSA 10 price grounded rather than inflated.

Where can you pull Sandshrew?

This is where PackSpy's own tracking comes in handy, since we record actual pulls across pack sites rather than relying on price guides alone. Sandshrew has been pulled 200 or more times across tilt-rips, mnstr, courtyard and collector-crypt, and it tends to show up in lower-cost packs like the Pokemon Dime Pack, Pack 1, Pokémon Starter Pack, Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack and Pack 5. The biggest recorded pull value for this card sits at $75, which is well above its typical market price, a reminder that pack values can swing based on pack contents and hype, not just the card itself. Worth saying plainly: opening packs is a gamble, and most rips do not beat what you paid, so treat pulls as fun rather than an investment plan.

Questions people ask

How much is Sandshrew worth?+

A raw or ungraded Sandshrew from Team Rocket Returns is valued at $2. Graded copies are worth more, with a Grade 9 sitting at $16 and a PSA 10 reaching $20, so condition makes a real difference even on a common card.

Is Sandshrew worth grading?+

It can be, if you already have a clean copy and enjoy having graded cards in your collection. A PSA 10 sells for 8.3x the raw price, but grading has a cost and no guaranteed outcome, so weigh that against the $2 to $20 range you are working with here.

How much is a PSA 10 Sandshrew worth?+

A PSA 10 Sandshrew is currently valued at $20. With 75 of the 129 graded copies achieving that top grade, gem mint examples are out there, which helps keep that price steady rather than sky high.
