Zapdos is one of those Base Set cards that just feels like Pokemon to a lot of collectors, that bright yellow electric bird crackling with energy in Ken Sugimori's original artwork. Card number 16 from the 1999 Base Set, it carries that Rare stamp that made it a chase card back when these packs first hit shelves. If you are here to figure out Zapdos value, you are in good company, because this is a card people check on constantly.

The collector's take on Zapdos

Is Zapdos worth grading?

Here is the honest math on grading Zapdos: a raw, ungraded copy sits around $26, while a PSA 10 in gem mint condition jumps all the way up to $1,890, which works out to about 74.1 times the raw price. That is a real number, but it comes with a real catch. Base Set cards from 1999 were not exactly stored in climate controlled vaults back in the day, so surface wear, whitening, and centering issues are everywhere, and hitting that PSA 10 grade is genuinely tough. Even landing a Grade 9, which runs $181, is a nice outcome if your raw copy has some life left in it. Before you send one in, weigh the grading fee and turnaround time against what you actually have in hand, because a card with visible edge wear or a soft corner is probably staying a 7 or 8, not a 10, and that changes the whole equation.

How rare is Zapdos?

Across all the copies that have been submitted for grading, 18,321 Zapdos cards have a population on record, and out of that entire pool only 687 have earned the PSA 10 grade. That is a small slice at the very top, which is exactly why gem mint copies command such a premium over everything else in the population. It tells you something simple: plenty of Zapdos cards survived the last two decades, but very few survived in perfect shape, and that gap between total population and PSA 10 population is really what drives the price jump you see between a Grade 9 and a Grade 10.

Where can you pull Zapdos?

PackSpy has tracked 104 recorded pulls of Zapdos across sites including mnstr, courtyard, collector-crypt, packs, and tilt-rips, so this is not a card that shows up constantly, but it is far from a myth either. The biggest pull we have on record came in at $1,697, which gives you a sense of what a great condition hit can actually bring on these platforms. We have seen it turn up in products like Pack 5, The Amazing Chase Encore, Wildcard Basic Pack, Pokémon Pro Pack, and Elite Pokémon Gacha Pack. Worth saying plainly, since we track real pulls across pack sites rather than just estimating: opening packs chasing a specific card is a gamble, and most rips do not pay for themselves, so treat any Zapdos pull as a nice surprise rather than something to count on.

Questions people ask

How much is Zapdos worth?+

A raw, ungraded Zapdos from Base Set currently sits around $26. Once you factor in grading, the value climbs quickly, with a Grade 9 worth $181 and a PSA 10 reaching $1,890, so condition really does most of the talking here.

Is Zapdos worth grading?+

It can be, especially if your copy looks clean under a loupe, since a PSA 10 sells for about 74.1 times the raw price. Just know that gem mint copies are rare, only 687 out of 18,321 graded copies have hit that top grade, so grading is a bit of a bet unless your card is genuinely sharp.

How much is a PSA 10 Zapdos worth?+

A PSA 10 Zapdos is valued at $1,890, a big jump from the raw price of $26. That premium reflects just how few copies, 687 out of 18,321 graded, have managed to earn that perfect grade.
