Applin is one of those cards that makes you stop and appreciate the little details, and the illustration rare version numbered 185 from Twilight Masquerade, released back in 2024, is a great example of why. Katsunori Sato's artwork gives this humble Grass type a real personality, and that's a big part of why collectors keep asking about Applin value even after the set has been out for a while. Raw copies sit at $11, which makes it an easy card to love without breaking the bank, though the grading ladder above it tells a more interesting story.

The collector's take on Applin

Is Applin worth grading?

So is Applin worth grading? Honestly, it depends on what you're hoping to get out of it. A raw copy runs $11, a Grade 9 climbs to $24, and a PSA 10 sits at $96, which works out to about 8.5 times the raw price. That's a real jump, but gem mint is called gem mint for a reason: hitting a true 10 means flawless corners, centering, and surface, and plenty of copies come back as 9s instead. Once you factor in grading fees and the wait time, it only really makes sense if your copy looks genuinely clean to your eye before you send it in. If there's any doubt, it might be smarter to just enjoy the card raw or sell it as is.

How rare is Applin?

Right now there are 1,721 graded copies of Applin on record, and of those, 831 have come back as PSA 10. That's actually a pretty high share of gem mints relative to the total population, which tells you this card grades reasonably well when it's handled with care. It also means PSA 10 copies aren't the rarest thing in the world, but they're still the minority, and that scarcity is part of what supports the $96 price tag compared to the $11 raw value.

Where can you pull Applin?

We've tracked 106 pulls of Applin across the pack sites we monitor, including tilt-rips, courtyard, collector-crypt, and lastpack, so this isn't a card that only shows up in theory. It's been pulled from a real mix of products too, from the Pokemon Dime Pack and Pokémon Pro Pack to the Pokémon Starter Pack, Wildcard Basic Pack, and Elite Pokémon Gacha Pack. The biggest recorded pull came in at $109, which shows the upside is there if the copy grades well, but that kind of result is the exception, not the rule. Opening packs for value is always a gamble, and most rips don't pay for themselves, so if you're chasing Applin specifically, buying a known copy on the secondary market is usually the steadier route.

Questions people ask

How much is Applin worth?+

A raw, ungraded Applin from Twilight Masquerade is worth $11. That's the baseline most collectors see day to day, and it climbs from there depending on how the card grades.

Is Applin worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 sells for $96 compared to $11 raw, roughly 8.5 times the value. But gem mint copies are genuinely hard to hit, and with 831 PSA 10s out of 1,721 graded total, plenty of submissions land as a Grade 9 at $24 instead, so only send in copies that look truly clean.

How much is a PSA 10 Applin worth?+

A PSA 10 Applin is valued at $96, which is about 8.5 times the $11 raw price. With 831 PSA 10s recorded out of a total population of 1,721 graded copies, it's a solid but not impossible grade to reach.
