Bagon is one of those quiet little Dragon Frontiers commons that a lot of collectors end up loving more than they expected to. It came out back in 2006, illustrated by Hajime Kusajima, and while it's not a flashy holo, its charm plus that Dragon Frontiers nostalgia keeps people searching for a Bagon value check years later. Right now a raw copy sits around $1, which tells you this is a card people collect for the love of it rather than the payout.

The collector's take on Bagon

Is Bagon worth grading?

So is Bagon worth grading? Let's be honest about the math first. A raw copy is $1, a Grade 9 comes in at $12, and a PSA 10 sits at $13, which works out to about 13.5x the raw price for that gem mint slot. On paper that jump looks nice, but grading has real costs attached, shipping, fees, turnaround time, and there's no guarantee your copy comes back a 10. With a card valued this low, the grading fee alone can eat most or all of the upside unless you already have a stack of raw copies you're sorting through and centering looks sharp. For a single card bought just to grade, it's tough to make the numbers work here.

How rare is Bagon?

Across all grading companies combined, there are 256 graded copies of Bagon on record, and 134 of those landed a PSA 10. That's actually a pretty high gem rate for a common from this era, more than half the graded population came back perfect. It suggests the card isn't especially hard to find in great shape, which helps explain why prices stay modest even at the top grade. Scarcity here is more about interest than true rarity, not many people are racing to grade a $1 common, so the population stays small simply because few bother submitting it.

Where can you pull Bagon?

Here's the honest answer: we haven't recorded Bagon being pulled on any of the pack sites we track. That doesn't mean it's impossible to find in a Dragon Frontiers pack somewhere, but it does mean it's not showing up in the pulls we log across sites in real time, which is usually a sign collectors are getting their copies through the secondary market rather than ripping packs for it. If you're chasing this one specifically, buying a raw or graded copy outright is going to be the more reliable route. And as always, worth saying plainly: opening packs is a gamble, most rips don't cover their cost, so chase Bagon because you like the card, not because you're expecting it to hit.

Questions people ask

How much is Bagon worth?+

A raw, ungraded Bagon from Dragon Frontiers is valued at $1 right now. It's a common card from 2006, so the price stays low, but that also makes it an easy, affordable pickup if you're building out a set or just like the artwork.

Is Bagon worth grading?+

It can be, but the economics are tight. A PSA 10 is worth $13 against a $1 raw card, roughly 13.5x, and with 134 out of 256 graded copies already hitting PSA 10, gem mint isn't rare for this card. Once you factor in grading fees, it's really only worth it if you're grading in bulk or already have a standout copy.

How much is a PSA 10 Bagon worth?+

A PSA 10 Bagon currently sits at $13, compared to $12 for a Grade 9 and $1 raw. It's a nice jump percentage-wise, but the actual dollar difference stays small, which is worth keeping in mind before you spend money submitting one.
