Chinchou is the little electric-type angler fish from Neo Revelation, the 2001 set that a lot of longtime collectors still get nostalgic about, and this particular card is a Common illustrated by Atsuko Nishida. It's never going to headline a collection, but that's part of the charm, and if you're checking Chinchou value because you found one in an old binder, the honest answer is it's a fun little piece of 2001 history worth about a dollar raw. Common doesn't mean worthless, though, and the story gets more interesting once grading enters the picture.

The collector's take on Chinchou

Is Chinchou worth grading?

Here's the real math on Chinchou price at different grades: raw sits at $1, a Grade 9 jumps to $14, and a PSA 10 lands at $86, which works out to 64.3x the raw price. That's a genuinely big multiplier for a common card, but the population numbers tell you why it isn't easy money: only 37 out of 333 graded copies have actually hit that PSA 10 gem mint mark. Grading costs money and takes time, and there's no guarantee your copy comes back a 10, so if you're sitting on a Chinchou that isn't sharp cornered and clean centered under a good light, it's probably not worth the gamble. If it looks genuinely pack fresh though, the upside is real enough to consider.

How rare is Chinchou?

Out of 333 total graded copies of Chinchou, only 37 have earned a PSA 10, which tells you gem mint condition is the exception here, not the rule. That's a fairly small population overall for a card this old, and it means most surviving copies are living out their lives in the Grade 9 range or lower, or ungraded entirely. Scarcity at the very top end is exactly what supports that $86 PSA 10 price against a $1 raw card, even though Chinchou itself is a plain old Common.

Where can you pull Chinchou?

We've tracked 5 recorded pulls of Chinchou across pack sites so far, with collector-crypt being the source and Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack among the products it's turned up in. The biggest pull value we've logged sits at $16, which is a nice little bonus for a common card but a good reminder that pulls like this are the exception, not the plan. If you're chasing Chinchou specifically, most people end up buying it outright on the secondary market rather than hoping it lands in a pack, and that's worth knowing before you spend money ripping packs hoping to land one, since most pack openings don't pay for themselves.

Questions people ask

How much is Chinchou worth?+

A raw, ungraded Chinchou from Neo Revelation is worth about $1. Once graded, the value climbs, with a Grade 9 sitting around $14, so most of the value here is tied to condition.

Is Chinchou worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 is worth 64.3x the raw price at $86 versus $1. But only 37 of the 333 graded copies have hit that PSA 10 mark, so it's only worth grading if your copy is genuinely sharp and clean.

How much is a PSA 10 Chinchou worth?+

A PSA 10 Chinchou is valued at $86, a big jump from the $1 raw price and the $14 Grade 9 price. With only 37 PSA 10s recorded out of 333 total graded copies, gem mint copies stay genuinely scarce.
