Dark Octillery is one of those quietly satisfying commons from Neo Destiny, the set that introduced Pokemon collectors to the whole 'Dark' evolution line back in 2002. Illustrated by Shin-ichi Yoshida, it's never been a chase card, but it's held onto a steady little following, and if you're here looking up Dark Octillery value, the short answer is that it sits right where you'd expect a well loved common from this era to sit: modest, but not nothing.

The collector's take on Dark Octillery

Is Dark Octillery worth grading?

So is it worth grading? Here's the honest math. A raw, ungraded Dark Octillery runs about $2, and a PSA 10 sits at $15, which works out to roughly 7.5x the raw price. That sounds like a nice multiple on paper, but grading fees alone will usually cost you more than the card is worth even if you land the gem mint slot, and interestingly, a Grade 9 copy actually books at $22, a bit higher than the PSA 10 figure. That flip is a good reminder that with lower value commons like this one, the grading fee and the wait rarely pencil out unless you're doing it purely for the love of building a graded set, not for profit.

How rare is Dark Octillery?

PackSpy's population data shows 287 total graded copies of Dark Octillery out there, and of those, only 48 have earned the coveted PSA 10 label. That's a fairly small slice, under a fifth of everything submitted, so gem mint copies aren't exactly common even though the card itself is a common by rarity. It just goes to show that centering, edges and surface can be unforgiving even on a card nobody thought twice about pulling back in 2002.

Where can you pull Dark Octillery?

We've tracked this card being pulled 1 time across the sites we monitor, that hit coming from Courtyard, with a recorded value of $26 on that particular rip. It's also been spotted showing up in Pokémon Starter Pack products. Realistically though, Dark Octillery isn't a card people are ripping packs specifically to chase, most collectors who want one just buy it outright on the secondary market, and that's worth knowing before you spend real money hoping to pull it, since opening packs is a gamble and the odds are rarely in your favor.

Questions people ask

How much is Dark Octillery worth?+

A raw, ungraded Dark Octillery is valued at about $2 right now. Graded copies climb from there, with a Grade 9 sitting at $22 and a PSA 10 at $15, so the price really depends on the grade and the copy in front of you.

Is Dark Octillery worth grading?+

It can be fun if you're building a graded collection, but financially it's a tough sell. The PSA 10 comes in at $15, only about 7.5x the raw price, and with 287 copies already graded and just 48 reaching PSA 10, grading fees will likely eat any upside.

How much is a PSA 10 Dark Octillery worth?+

A PSA 10 Dark Octillery is worth $15. Only 48 out of the 287 total graded copies have hit that gem mint grade, so it's a genuinely small group even if the dollar value stays modest.
