Geodude has been a fan favorite since the earliest days of the Pokemon TCG, and this little rock-solid common from the 1999-2000 Fossil set is a great example of why. It was illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno and released in 1999, and while it will never be the flashiest card in anyone's binder, there's a real charm to it that keeps people searching for a Geodude value check even today. Right now the raw card sits at $1, which tells you this is more about nostalgia and completing a set than chasing a big payday.

The collector's take on Geodude

Is Geodude worth grading?

Here's the honest answer on whether Geodude is worth grading: a PSA 10 is worth 111.3x what the raw card sells for, jumping from $1 ungraded all the way up to $132 in gem mint condition, with a Grade 9 landing at $40. That's a genuinely wide gap, but before you rush to submit a stack of Geodudes, remember that grading has real costs attached, shipping, fees, turnaround time, and there's no guarantee your copy comes back a 10. Fossil-era commons are notorious for tiny print and centering issues that keep them out of gem mint territory, so if you've got a sharp, well-centered copy it might be worth the gamble, but go in knowing plenty of submissions land at Grade 9 or lower.

How rare is Geodude?

Only 13 copies of this Geodude have been graded in total, and just 3 of those have earned the coveted PSA 10 label. That's a tight population for a common card, and it shows how few people bother sending inexpensive Fossil-era cards in for grading in the first place. It also means that if you do land a PSA 10, you're holding one of a very small handful in existence, which helps explain why the price climbs so sharply at the top end even though this is a common, not a rare holo.

Where can you pull Geodude?

PackSpy has tracked this Geodude being pulled 40 times across collector-crypt, courtyard, and mnstr, showing up in packs like the Starter Pokemon Gacha Pack, Pokemon Pro Pack, Wildcard Starter Pack, Pokemon Basic Pack, and Pack 1. The biggest recorded pull value for this card came in at $144, which is a nice reminder that even a modest common can occasionally surprise you if the condition and grading line up. That said, most pack openings don't return anywhere near that, so treat any pull as a fun bonus rather than an investment strategy, we track this data across real pack sites so you can see what's actually happening rather than guessing.

Questions people ask

How much is Geodude worth?+

A raw, ungraded Geodude from the 1999-2000 Fossil set is worth $1, while graded copies climb quite a bit higher. A Grade 9 sits at $40 and a PSA 10 reaches $132, so condition makes a real difference here.

Is Geodude worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 is worth 111.3x the raw price, but gem mint copies are hard to come by with only 3 PSA 10s recorded out of 13 total graded. Weigh the grading cost against the odds before sending one in.

What set is Geodude from?+

This Geodude is card #47 from the Fossil set, released in 1999. It's a common card illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, part of one of the earliest and most nostalgic Pokemon TCG expansions.
