Geodude has been a fan favorite since Fossil hit shelves back in 1999, and this little rock-type common still has a soft spot in a lot of collectors' hearts. It's not a rare pull by any stretch, being a common with the 1st Edition stamp, but that combination of nostalgia and print history is exactly why people keep searching for a Geodude value check. Right now a raw copy runs about $3, which makes it an easy, low-stakes card to enjoy without breaking the bank.

The collector's take on Geodude

Is Geodude worth grading?

So is Geodude worth grading? Here's the honest math: a raw copy sits at $3, a Grade 9 jumps to $40, and a true PSA 10 gem mint copy is fetching $184, which works out to 64.7 times the raw price. That's a real jump, no question. But getting a Fossil-era common to gem mint condition isn't guaranteed, centering and surface issues are common on cards from this era, and grading fees plus shipping and turnaround time eat into any profit if the card comes back a 9 instead of a 10. If you've got a copy that looks sharp in hand, corners crisp and centering clean, it might be worth the gamble. If it's just an average played card, it's probably happier staying raw.

How rare is Geodude?

We don't have population numbers to point to here, so it's hard to say exactly how many gem mint Geodudes are floating around versus how many are still raw in binders. What we do know is that as a common from a set that's now over two decades old, Geodude was printed in large numbers and wasn't treated preciously by most collectors at the time, which makes high grade survivors genuinely tougher to find than you'd expect. That scarcity in top condition is really what drives the gap between the $3 raw price and the $184 PSA 10 price, not rarity of the card itself but rarity of the condition.

Where can you pull Geodude?

This is where PackSpy's data actually helps, because we track real pulls across pack sites instead of just guessing. We've recorded Geodude pulled 40 times across collector-crypt, courtyard, and mnstr, showing up in packs like the Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack, Pokémon Pro Pack, Wildcard Starter Pack, Pokémon Basic Pack, and Pack 1. The biggest recorded pull value we've logged for this card sits at $144, which tells you that even a humble common can land in a lucky spot on a good day. Just remember, opening packs is a gamble at the end of the day and most rips don't cover their cost, so if you're chasing this specific card, buying it outright on the secondary market for around $3 raw is usually the smarter move.

Questions people ask

How much is Geodude worth?+

A raw, ungraded Geodude from Fossil is worth about $3 right now. Graded copies climb from there, with a Grade 9 sitting around $40 and a PSA 10 gem mint copy reaching $184.

Is Geodude worth grading?+

It depends on the copy. The jump from raw to PSA 10 is significant at 64.7 times the raw value, but hitting a gem mint 10 isn't easy and grading costs money regardless of the outcome, so it really only makes sense if your card is already in excellent shape.

What set is Geodude from?+

This Geodude is card number 47 from the Fossil set, released back in 1999. It's a common card illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, and this particular version carries the 1st Edition stamp collectors look for.
