Kabuto is that quiet, easy-to-overlook Uncommon from the 2023 Japanese Mystery of the Fossils set, drawn with a nice bit of character by Souichirou Gunjima. It is not a chase card in the flashy sense, but if you are looking up Kabuto value, it is because you pulled one, own one, or are eyeing one on the secondary market and want a straight answer. Right now that answer starts simple: raw copies sit at $3, which tells you this is a card people collect for love of the set more than for profit.

The collector's take on Kabuto

Is Kabuto worth grading?

So is Kabuto worth grading? Here is the honest math: a raw copy runs about $3, while a PSA 10 sits at $84, and PackSpy has that jump pegged at roughly 29.6 times the raw price. That sounds tempting on paper, but gem mint is genuinely hard to hit, corners, edges and centering all have to line up, and grading fees plus shipping and wait times eat into any profit fast. Interestingly, a Grade 9 here actually lands at $168, higher than the PSA 10 figure, which is a good reminder that grading outcomes and market pricing do not always move the way you expect. If you already own a sharp-looking copy it might be worth a shot, but treat it as a fun gamble, not a guaranteed payday.

How rare is Kabuto?

Across every grading submission tracked, only 671 copies of Kabuto have been graded in total, and of those just 151 have earned the coveted PSA 10 label. That is a real cut, well under a quarter of graded copies reaching gem mint, which tells you this little Uncommon is tougher to find in top condition than its low raw price would suggest. Scarcity at the population level is really what supports the PSA 10 price holding above the raw and gives collectors a reason to care about condition even on a card most people would otherwise pass by.

Where can you pull Kabuto?

PackSpy has logged Kabuto being pulled 40 times across the pack sites we track, specifically courtyard and collector-crypt, and it has shown up in a handful of products including the Wildcard Basic Pack, Elite Pokémon Gacha Pack, Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack, Pokémon Starter Pack and Pokémon Pro Pack. The biggest single pull we have on record hit $750, proof that even a modest Uncommon can occasionally land in a lucky, well-graded copy or a bundle that overperforms. That said, most rips of any pack are not going to beat what you paid, so if you are chasing Kabuto specifically, buying a known raw or graded copy is usually the steadier route, and treating pack odds as entertainment rather than investment will save you some heartache.

Questions people ask

How much is Kabuto worth?+

A raw, ungraded Kabuto from Mystery of the Fossils is valued at $3, which reflects its status as an Uncommon rather than a headline chase card. Value climbs a lot once it is graded, so condition matters more than you might expect here.

Is Kabuto worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 is worth about 29.6 times the raw price, but gem mint copies are genuinely hard to pull off and grading costs money and time either way. With only 151 PSA 10s out of 671 total graded copies, it is a real long shot worth going into with clear eyes.

How much is a PSA 10 Kabuto worth?+

A PSA 10 Kabuto currently sits at $84, a solid jump from the $3 raw price. Worth noting though, a Grade 9 copy is actually valued higher at $168, so it pays to check current numbers rather than assume higher grade always means higher price.
