Kabuto is one of those quiet little gems from the 2006 Legend Maker set that fossil fans still get a kick out of pulling. As an Uncommon reverse holo illustrated by Takao Unno, it was never meant to be a chase card, but that old school fossil Pokemon charm keeps collectors coming back to check the Kabuto value years later. If you are trying to figure out what your copy is actually worth, raw copies sit around $30, and that is a solid starting point before we get into grading.

The collector's take on Kabuto

Is Kabuto worth grading?

So is Kabuto worth grading? Here is the honest answer. A raw copy trades around $30, a Grade 9 jumps to $250, and a PSA 10 sits at $1,100, which works out to about 36.7 times the raw price. That is a real jump, no question. But gem mint is genuinely hard to land, and grading costs money and time whether or not the card comes back a 10. If you have a copy with sharp corners, clean edges and no whitening under a light, it might be worth the gamble. If it has any soft spots, it is probably better staying raw or sold as is, since a Grade 9 result still pays but nowhere near what a perfect 10 does.

How rare is Kabuto?

Right now there are 146 total graded copies of Kabuto on record, and only 28 of those have made it all the way to PSA 10. That is a fairly tight gem mint pool for a card that has been around since 2006, and it tells you gem mint condition is the real bottleneck here, not overall scarcity. When only a small slice of the graded population reaches perfect condition, that top tier naturally holds its value better, which is exactly what you see reflected in the PSA 10 price compared to everything below it.

Where can you pull Kabuto?

This is where PackSpy's own data comes in handy, since we track real pulls across pack opening sites rather than relying on price guides alone. Kabuto has been recorded pulled 1 time so far, on mnstr, showing up in Pack 1 with a recorded value of $141. That is not a lot of activity, and it tells you plainly that this card is not something you should expect to rip open often. Most collectors who want a Kabuto end up buying one on the secondary market rather than chasing it through packs, and that is worth knowing before you spend money hoping for a pull, since opening packs is a gamble and most rips do not pay for themselves.

Questions people ask

How much is Kabuto worth?+

A raw or ungraded Kabuto is worth around $30. Graded copies climb from there, with a Grade 9 sitting at $250 and a PSA 10 reaching $1,100. Condition really does make the difference here, so it pays to know which tier your copy falls into.

Is Kabuto worth grading?+

It can be, since a PSA 10 sells for about 36.7 times the raw price. But only 28 out of 146 graded copies have hit that gem mint grade, so it is far from guaranteed. Grade it if the card genuinely looks flawless, otherwise the cost and risk may not be worth it.

What set is Kabuto from?+

Kabuto Reverse Holo #36 comes from the Legend Maker set, released in 2006. It is an Uncommon card illustrated by Takao Unno, and it has quietly held collector interest ever since.
