Larvitar is that small, stubborn little rock skin Pokemon that eventually grows into the much-loved Tyranitar, and this particular version is card #114 from the Korean Ruler of Black Flame set, released back in 2018. It's a Common illustrated by Misa Tsutsui, so it's never going to be the star of a binder page, but plenty of collectors chase it anyway to complete the evolution line or just because the artwork is charming. If you've searched Larvitar value or found yourself wondering how much is Larvitar worth, the short answer is that raw copies currently sit around $3.

The collector's take on Larvitar

Is Larvitar worth grading?

So is Larvitar worth grading? The jump from $3 raw to $18 at Grade 9 is real, but it's not massive, and there's no established PSA 10 price for this card yet, which usually means gem mint copies are either scarce in the population or the market hasn't caught up with pricing them. Grading takes time and costs money no matter what number comes back, and a Common like this needs sharp corners, clean edges and solid centering to really make the trip worthwhile. My honest advice: send it in if you genuinely think you've got a gem mint copy or you just want the card slabbed for your own collection, rather than expecting grading alone to turn a big profit.

How rare is Larvitar?

There's no official population figure available for Larvitar #114 yet, so it's worth thinking about scarcity in general terms. As a Common from a 2018 set, it was printed in the kind of volume Commons usually see, which is exactly why raw copies stay affordable at $3. Where things tighten up is at the top of the grading scale. Gem mint 10s are naturally harder to come by for any card this age simply because handling and storage take their toll over time, and that relative scarcity is part of why a Grade 9 already commands $18, well above the raw price.

Where can you pull Larvitar?

We've recorded Larvitar being pulled 127 times across tilt-rips, courtyard and collector-crypt, so this is a card that genuinely does turn up when people crack packs rather than one you only see on the secondary market. Specifically, it's shown up in the Pokemon Dime Pack, Wildcard Basic Pack, Tilt Treasure Pack, Pokemon Ultimate Pack and Elite Pokémon Gacha Pack, so those are your best bets if you're hoping to pull one yourself. The biggest pull we've logged tied to this card reached $1,238, but that's very much the outlier end of things, and it's worth remembering that opening packs is a gamble where most rips won't come close, this Common included.

Questions people ask

How much is Larvitar worth?+

Raw, ungraded copies of Larvitar generally go for around $3, while a Grade 9 copy is worth about $18. There's no recorded PSA 10 price for this card yet, so most people will encounter it at the raw price point.

Is Larvitar worth grading?+

It can be worth it if you've got a sharp, clean copy, since Grade 9s sell for $18 compared to $3 raw. Just factor in the grading fees against that jump, and know that PSA 10 pricing isn't established yet, so treat grading as a passion move rather than a sure profit.
