Slowpoke has that easy, goofy charm that made a lot of us fall for Pokemon cards in the first place, and this particular printing, the Reverse Holo #80 from Fire Red & Leaf Green, released back in 2004, is a nice little piece of that era. It is a common card illustrated by Yuka Morii, and while common doesn't sound exciting on paper, the reverse holo shine gives it a bit more presence in a binder than you'd expect. If you're here checking the Slowpoke value, the short answer is that raw copies sit at $82, which is a solid number for a common from this set.

The collector's take on Slowpoke

Is Slowpoke worth grading?

So is Slowpoke worth grading? Here's the honest picture: a raw copy runs $82, a Grade 9 comes in at $78, and a PSA 10 jumps all the way up to $1,580, which works out to about 19.4 times the raw price. That gap tells you everything. Grading only pays off if you land a true gem mint, because a Grade 9 result actually leaves you with a card worth slightly less than what you started with once you account for the raw price. Slowpoke's surface and centering can be unforgiving under a loupe, gem mint copies are genuinely hard to hit, and grading costs money and takes time with no guarantee of the outcome. If you've got a copy that looks flawless to your eye, corners sharp, centering clean, it might be worth the gamble. If it's a nice but not perfect card, it may be better loved raw.

How rare is Slowpoke?

Slowpoke sits in the common rarity tier of Fire Red & Leaf Green, which means it was never scarce in the way a holo rare or secret rare would be. Commons from this set were printed in large numbers back in 2004, so finding a raw copy has never been the hard part. Where things tighten up is at the top of the grading scale: getting a common this old into true gem mint condition is a different challenge altogether, since decades of handling, factory wear, and print quirks all work against a perfect PSA 10. That's really why the PSA 10 price sits so far above the raw and Grade 9 numbers, condition scarcity is doing all the work here, not print scarcity.

Where can you pull Slowpoke?

This is where PackSpy's own data gets interesting, because we track real pulls across pack sites, not just guide prices. Slowpoke has been recorded pulled 200 or more times across courtyard, tilt-rips, collector-crypt, and mnstr, so it's far from a rare sighting if you're opening packs regularly. The biggest recorded pull value we've logged for this card sits at $476, which shows how much a single well-timed grade or lucky centering can swing things. We've seen it turn up in the Pokémon Starter Pack, Pokemon Mini Pack, Wildcard Starter Pack, Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack, and Wildcard Basic Pack, so if you're chasing one from a rip, those are the kinds of packs where it shows up. Just remember, opening packs is a gamble by nature, and most rips don't come out ahead financially, Slowpoke being common and reasonably easy to pull is part of why it's a nice one to actually land rather than chase.

Questions people ask

How much is Slowpoke worth?+

A raw, ungraded Slowpoke Reverse Holo #80 is valued at $82. Graded copies vary a lot: a Grade 9 sits at $78, while a PSA 10 gem mint copy is worth $1,580. So the real Slowpoke price depends heavily on condition and grade.

Is Slowpoke worth grading?+

Only really if you think the card can hit PSA 10, since that's where the value jumps to $1,580, about 19.4 times the raw price. A Grade 9 actually comes in at $78, slightly under the raw value, so a near-miss grade isn't worth the risk or cost for most collectors.
