Typhlosion is the fire-type evolution that a lot of collectors have a soft spot for, and this particular card, #17 from Neo Genesis, is one of the reasons the set still gets talked about today. It came out back in 2000, carries that classic Rare status with artwork from Shin-ichi Yoshida, and if you are trying to pin down Typhlosion value right now, a raw copy is sitting at $197. Simple, honest set, simple honest card, and that history is a big part of why people still chase it.

The collector's take on Typhlosion

Is Typhlosion worth grading?

So is Typhlosion worth grading? Here is the honest math: a raw copy runs $197, but a PSA 10 is valued at $2,771, which works out to about 14.1 times the raw price. That is a real jump, no question. The catch is actually landing that PSA 10. Neo Genesis cards from 2000 have had two decades to pick up whitening, print lines and edge wear, and gem mint is a tough bar to clear on a card this old. Worth noting too, a Grade 9 is only valued at $6, which tells you the market here really only rewards the very top grade, anything short of perfect and you are often better off just holding the raw card. Add in grading fees and turnaround time, and this becomes a bet you make on a specific copy, not a guaranteed payday. If your card already looks clean under a light, it might be worth the shot. If it has visible wear, save your money and enjoy it raw.

How rare is Typhlosion?

Across every grading submission on record, there are 914 graded copies of this Typhlosion, and of those, only 22 have earned a PSA 10. That is a genuinely small slice sitting at the top. It tells you that even among people who cared enough to send this card in for grading, gem mint condition has been rare to hit, whether that is the original print quality, handling over the years, or just how unforgiving the standard is on cards this old. That scarcity at the top is exactly why the PSA 10 price sits so far above everything else, supply at that grade is genuinely thin.

Where can you pull Typhlosion?

This is where PackSpy's own data comes in handy, because we track real pulls across pack sites, not just price guide estimates. We have recorded Typhlosion pulled 60 times across mnstr, tilt-rips, collector-crypt and courtyard, with the biggest recorded pull landing at $3,500. It has shown up in products like Pack 3, Pokemon Master Pack, Anime Pop Culture Gacha and Celestial Pokémon Gacha Pack, so it is out there if you know where to look. Just keep the bigger picture honest in your head: opening packs is gambling, most rips do not come close to covering their cost, and this Typhlosion showing up in a pack is a nice surprise, not something to bank on.

Questions people ask

How much is Typhlosion worth?+

A raw, ungraded copy of Typhlosion #17 from Neo Genesis is valued at $197. That number moves quite a bit based on condition and grading, so it is really the starting point rather than the whole picture.

Is Typhlosion worth grading?+

It depends on the copy. A PSA 10 is worth $2,771, which is about 14.1 times the raw price of $197, but a Grade 9 only sits at $6, so grading really only pays off if your card is close to perfect. With just 22 PSA 10s out of 914 total graded copies, gem mint is genuinely hard to land.

How much is a PSA 10 Typhlosion worth?+

A PSA 10 Typhlosion is valued at $2,771. Only 22 copies out of the 914 graded so far have reached that grade, which is a big part of why the price sits so much higher than the raw card or a Grade 9.
