Slugma is one of those small, charming pulls from the 2003 Skyridge set that longtime collectors have a real soft spot for, painted by Yukiko Baba with that molten, half-melted look that makes it instantly recognizable. It's a Common, so it was never meant to be rare, but nearly two decades later plenty of people still search Slugma value just to see what their old binder copy might fetch. Right now a raw, ungraded Slugma sits around $25, which is a solid number for a Common of its age.

The collector's take on Slugma

Is Slugma worth grading?

So is it worth grading? A PSA 10 Slugma runs about 1.2x what the raw card sells for, and the actual market figure for a Gem Mint copy is $29, while a Grade 9 comes in a bit higher at $37 depending on demand at the time. That gap is real but it's not huge, and grading fees plus the wait time can eat into whatever profit you're chasing, especially on a Common where perfect corners and centering aren't guaranteed just because the card looks clean to your eye. If you already love the card and want it protected in a slab, grading makes sense for the peace of mind. If you're doing it purely for profit, the raw to PSA 10 jump here is modest enough that it's worth thinking twice before you send it in.

How rare is Slugma?

Across all grading services, only 114 copies of this Slugma have ever been graded, and of those, 44 came back a perfect PSA 10. That's a fairly high percentage of gem mints for a Common, which tells you this card wasn't especially hard to pull in top condition back when Skyridge packs were fresh. Scarcity here isn't extreme, but a defined population still gives buyers and sellers a real sense of what's actually out there, and it's part of why the pricing on this one stays fairly steady rather than swinging wildly.

Where can you pull Slugma?

We've tracked this exact Slugma getting pulled 14 times across pack sites we monitor, including tilt-rips and collector-crypt, with the biggest recorded pull landing at $200, well above its usual market value. It's shown up in a mix of products too, from the Pokemon Expert Pack and Pokemon Ace Pack to the Starter Pokémon Gacha Pack, Pokemon Starter Pack, and Pokemon Premium Pack. That spread is the kind of thing a price guide can't tell you, but it's exactly what we track at PackSpy: real pulls, real prices, across real sites, so you know this Common does turn up if you're opening the right packs, even if the odds still favor the house more often than not.

Questions people ask

How much is Slugma worth?+

A raw, ungraded Slugma from Skyridge is worth around $25 in today's market. Graded copies can be worth more or less depending on condition, with a Grade 9 sitting around $37 and a PSA 10 around $29. So condition and grading really do shape the final number here.

Is Slugma worth grading?+

It depends on your goals. A PSA 10 sells for roughly 1.2x the raw price, which is a real but modest bump, and with 44 out of 114 graded copies already hitting Gem Mint, pulling off a perfect 10 isn't rare enough to guarantee a big payout after grading fees.

How much is a PSA 10 Slugma worth?+

A PSA 10 Slugma currently has a market value of $29. That's slightly above the raw card price of $25, reflecting the extra work and cost that goes into getting a Common graded rather than any extreme scarcity at the top grade.
